Clever

I'm a little annoyed at myself for not seeing how you tied the characters to Majora's Mask until the very end. It turned out to be a logical origin story for when you met the father & daughter in Ikana Canyon. Nicely done.

Animation/art/sounds weren't exactly phenomenal, but it was nicely put together.

Eastbeast responds:

yeah I will rethink the sound effects I use for next time while still staying true to using zelda like sounds. Thanks for your review :)

Woah, glad I made that double take!

This entire flash is amazing, awesome, and hilarious. The animation was smooth and well timed 100% the way through. And the voice/vocal work work very well in maintaining musicality while parodying the original song.

One thing I really enjoyed was the hidden details and features...and I'm not just talking about the easter egg! I was playing with the built-in seek bar to get a good look at the entire flash and did a double take at the Malfoy costume shuffle section. If you seek back to right before that section after playing through it, Malfoy takes on a different set of costumes! And it's different through several replays! I thought this was a clever addition to the movie, and a real treat to find!

Thanks for the great show!

That made my evening!

I was totally not expecting this! The title told me I'd be seeing some fan-made fight between popular characters, but instead I caught a glimpse of a hilarious adventure between several unique characters!

Your warning at the beginning declaring string language and adult themes had me on edge at the beginning...too much of that can make humor turn very sour very fast, imo. But nearly every line of dialogue was wittily delivered, ensuing hilarity! A MAJOR kudos to each voice actor, the show wouldn't have been NEARLY as good without them!

It's also cool how you know how to handle old & dead jokes. "Look, we already killed over 9000 of your guys-" "Ohhh Laaammmee!" "What'd I say?" Deftly executed, sir!

You've convinced me to check out some of your earlier material. I'd really look forward to seeing more of this!

Budj responds:

Wow! I'm stoked that you liked it so much! This really inspires me to keep working on the series. Thanks alot :D.

The dictionary doesn't do this game justice...

For there are no words to describe how awesome this game is! If a Super Mario 64-ish game were officially created for a handheld platform for 2D purposes...it would likely be something like this.

I enjoyed how you kept faithful to many aspects of the old games (I was almost self-navigating the Hazy Maze Cave since it's design was similar enough to the old one!) and at the same time brought in great new ideas (new level designs and surprise plot twists!)

You seemed to handle difficulty pretty well too! The first levels were farily simple, and the final stages were grueling, yet not quite frustrating. Good balance!

And the last segment of the game...I'm not going to spoil anything...but seriously, Mario isn't normally allowed to be that epic! That was truly spectacular, especially for a flash game!

The only obvious complaint is the inevitable lag. You often have so much going on, the game almost seems to crap it's pants! Don't get me wrong, I loved it when things got hecktic, but the slowed gameplay did SLIGHTLY take me out of the experience. But hey, probably not much you can do there.

Don't know what else to say, really. Haven't given the level designer enough time to say anything intelligent about it (but MAJOR points for simply having it!). I think I'll go find me the rest of those shine sprites now ^_^

Excellent job!

I am floating lazily among the musical shapes...

The game was simple and smooth. It kept me enraptured with it's calm setting and beautiful music. At times I felt like there could have been something more...just some other small twist to make it more interesting...to make it seem more like a game and less like a clever way to listen to music.

But the execution made me overlook that in the end. The soft piano tones along with the lazily floating shapes was enough to melt the soul...
Or something like that ^_^

Very nice job.

Either I'm out of practice...

Or this is hard! In a good way though!

This is very much an improved game. It feels very polished...and you even added in several features...such as the keyboard/guitar style controles ^_^

The game is very rewarding with the award points as well. While not exactly new in comparison to your previous game, the number and variety of guitars to unlock is very cool. The descriptions of the guitars are half the fun too!

As I mentioned earlier, this game brings about a whole lot more challenge (for me, anyway). I was having an easy time with it at first until I came to "Trainwreck." The name said it all for me. I then knew what I was in for (it was a song only half-way down the list after all!). In addition...getting perfect awards with songs of those lengths?! O_o

One nitpick: the announcers for both this and the previous games are awesome...but this one lacks a comparative "umph." After listening to the last announcer for a while, this one seems a little half-hearted. I kept on thinking, "you don't seem too excited." As a side note, I thought it was funny when I am on a roll and screw up royally, so the announcer says something like, "Supe-WEAK!" >_>

I do miss some old titles, by the way. I know that you shouldn't repeat songs, but I missed Guitar vs. Piano. Plus some Mario/Zelda songs just because I'm a gaming geek ^_^

Once more: this is an improvement to an already awesome game. I'm not even really into this brand of music either. It keeps me entertained and challeged (very much so). You, sir, deserve a hearty pat on the back, and a whole lotta good votes and reviews. Awesome job.

This song has gotten out!

There's a reason I suddenly decided to review this song, but I'll get there in a minute!

I've had this song downloaded for a while, and I love it for its dual themes. I enjoy how it transitions from soft, echoing tones, to a powerful presence! I'm trying to think of a visual metaphor...when listening to it, I feel like I'm drifting through the air in a light snowfall, soon to be awaken from my trance as I panoramic views of dark castles and gothic architecture...only to fall back into my slumbering snowfall shortly after. In short, it has a lot of feeling!

You may have gotten a message or two about this, but it seems like you song is being featured in a game launch trailer! Looks like you're popular, even among developers!

It was almost there!!

Your song had me right where it wanted me starting at 00:50...but then it ended pretty much after that! The way the piano flows in with the percussion was nice, but then the song was done!

It was that last 20 seconds or so that really had me...if there was some sort of continuation of this, it would be fantastic.

magumanu responds:

Thanks, those last 20 seconds are my favorite part too. I hope I can continue this someday.

This could go past the sky

First off, I liked what I heard right off the bat. The rapid keystrokes played such an enticing melody that I couldn't help but be enraptured. It's upbeat, it flows, and keeps one entertained.

I understand that this was meant to be a paino piece, but I found myself waiting for the entrance of other instruments...I don't know, maybe some deep strings to meld into the background (take this with a grain of salt, for I know knowthing of music composition :P).

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I really enjoy the melody...but it almost feels empty. Like a cream-filled donut without the cream. Mind you, the donut by itself is of Krispy-Kreme quality.

I don't know if you have any experience in synthesizing additional parts, but if so, consider this an oppertunity.

Great job

Valtrix responds:

Wow, not sure where all these reviews came from, but I'll review them :D

Yeah, I thought about adding other instruments, but that's not what I'm focusing on right now. I've really just been trying to work on flow and sounding of the notes and rhythms themselves before I try working on more complex things. Need to start with the basics you know ;P More than I would like is a trial and error, but I certainly think I'm getting better at composing from where I started.

I do agree that the melody is somewhat empty, but in the end I think this is just a song that's meant to be fun to listen to, and not really all that engrossing. More of something to have in the background to set a mood.

Thanks for the review!

Been around here for a while, just recently set up account. Still learning bells and whistles. Love a good flash, like everyone else.
